The focus of this third-grade lesson is for students to learn to use a number line to determine elapsed time to the nearest minute. This lesson is structured to provide a gradual release of tasks through the “I Do/We Do/You Do” model of instruction. Students will use a number line to solve situations when the elapsed time is unknown, start-time is unknown, and end-time is unknown.
