Monterey Bay Aquarium - Moon Jelly Cam

These dreamy drifters know how to go with the flow.

Watch moon jellies move with the current as they pulsate their delicate, translucent bells. They sport several distinctive characteristics, including bright, petal-like gonads in the center of their bells and a fine stinging fringe that they use to hunt prey. Different foods can transform them into a kaleidoscopic array of colors. If they feed extensively on crustaceans, they’ll turn pink or lavender. An orange tint hints that they’ve been feeding on brine shrimp.
