Diving Deeper into Dialogue

Students will examine how diction has a positive or negative connotation. Students will then continue adding on to a narrative by writing dialogue that replicates the characters’ diction and creates their voice. Practice with elaboration of narrative writing will assist with Brief Writes. The lesson and activities can be one in one day or on two subsequent days. If you’re in a fiction-writing unit, this lesson could slot in and help students improve their written dialogue.
