Disputing the Disagreement: When Sources Conflict

Sometimes sources about the same topic will contain conflicting information. This resource is a lesson to help students’ research by analyzing multiple sources that provide conflicting information on the same topic and identifying where the sources disagree on matters of fact or interpretation. Students will first review facts, credibility, and reliability.  Then, they will analyze a sample source for reliability and use it to compare additional sources for conflicting information. Finally, they will reflect on the key ideas and do an exit ticket assessment.  There are also suggestions for extension and activities for additional review.
