Students will use vocabulary (bold, highlighted, italicized words), found in 4th-grade level resources during reading and apply them to writing. Students will read a piece of the teacher’s writing and begin to read a piece of their own writing to find vague words and phrases that could be enhanced by using more appropriate vocabulary. Students will replace some of those vague words and phrases they find in their writing with the grade appropriate, domain-specific words from their 4th grade resources.
