How Can a Square Be a Rectangle?

This lesson is a student probe to be completed independently as a check for understanding that shapes are named by their defining attributes. Students will be challenged to reason if a shape fits in a category even if it doesn't "look like" what we expect in that category. The resource also includes descriptions of common student misconceptions.
