Tapping into the Power of Gratitude

Activities to cultivate gratitude in the classroom in article by ASCD “Tapping into the Power of Gratitude,” such as “think intentions, costs, and benefits”

Distance Learning Adaptation Ideas

Consider starting virtual meetings with a few moments for sharing students’ gratitude expressed in the chosen gratitude activity. Use virtual meeting breakout rooms if a smaller group setting would be appropriate.

Sample Practice

Use question prompts.

When students come into school on Monday mornings, ask them what their favorite part of the weekend was. Then, follow up with, Did someone help make that happen? Or, if they faced a particular challenge, ask, Did someone help you overcome it?
