Django Paris and H. Samy Alim agreed to answer a few questions about their new book, "Culturally Sustaining Pedagogies: Teaching and Learning for Justice in a Changing World."

State Literacy Plan Priority

  • Transitional kindergarten to grade 5: Build school capacity for effective literacy and English language instruction for English learners, including opportunities to develop biliteracy and primary language instruction whenever possible. 
  • Grades 6 to 12: Increase asset-based teaching in schools, including culturally and linguistically responsive and sustaining pedagogies.
