Ooey gooey animal guts

What does an octopus eat? What is a sea otter's favorite food? Students find out by dissecting a gelatin-dessert-filled, plastic glove “stomach” of a marine consumer. They identify what kind of consumer their marine animal is by examining the prey items they discover in the stomach. Students draw a food chain for their animal and then use it to construct a marine food web as a class.
