Blooming Flower Fan Dance | Beauty of Jasmine | PBS LearningMedia

In this video, students from the Lexington (Kentucky) Chinese Music, Dance and Arts Program (CMDAP) perform “Blooming Flower,” a Chinese fan dance. The Blooming Flower Fan Dance is a folk dance in the ceremonial/artistic tradition. The costumes, hairstyles, and fans combine with the choreography to create a mood of lighthearted joy as the dancers represent flowers emerging from the ground, swaying in the wind, and opening their faces to the sun. This resource is part of the Beauty of Jasmine collection.
