Anthems that Fueled a Movement

How do musicians respond to social and racial inequality? What makes a song an "anthem?"

Songs have the power to unify the hearts and minds of its listeners. Reflect on this as you progress through the collection: Words make you think thoughts. Music makes you feel a feeling. A song has the power to make you feel a thought.

This collection highlights the songs and musicians who
challenged the inequalities in American society. The music became a
driving force in the movements for civil rights.

In this collection, we will listen to music released in response to major events in the U.S. -- with Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights Movement.
