Connecting Homecoming History - Primary Source Analysis

Students will practice historical thinking by researching the context of video footage of historic football game in the collection of the Museum of African American History and Culture. This exercise challenges students to analyze primary source videos, photos, and newspaper articles by following the steps in the National Archives and Records Administration Document Analysis Process and using Thinking Strategies from Harvard's Project Zero.

    • Try to make sense of it.
    • Use it as historical evidence.
  • Project Zero Artful Thinking Strategy
    • What Makes You Say That? - Students practice close reading to make sense of the video and photos in order to use it as historical evidence.
