Civil War (1861-1865) Important Materials

The Civil War is a important point in United States History. America is split on the idea of slaves, southern states loved them for labor, while the northern states pursued the abolishment of slavery. We can see the north has revolutionary ideas for the slaves, such as, trying to free them, and this leads to war between the states. We can see interesting items from both sides of the war that came up in this time period.

During this time period, we can see the rising tension between the North and the South. This was the very first time America had to go up against itself and the bloodshed was insane. The items in this collection represent how America was and how certain states felt about slavery, whether they supported, wanted to get rid of it, or just had no feeling towards it. We will start with some of the weapons used in the many battles of the Civil War, then some materials that were binding to certain people, after we'll look at some flyers and formal written papers.
