WOVEN HISTORY: United States Indian Law and Policy Through the Eyes of An Artist

Art is a means by which we can learn about history, and through art, we can deepen our awareness and understanding of our world. Art can allow us to experience historic events in a different way; a deeper and possibly more personal way. Woven History: United States Indian Law and Policy Through the Eyes of An Artist, will utilize the inspiring art of Eastern Band Cherokee basket weaver, Shan Goshorn, who poetically weaves the history of her people, Indian people, into her baskets. By exploring her works and words, as well as historical documents and the words and actions of others, we will not only learn what happened in the past but how it truly affected the lives of Native peoples in our land and the history of the United States.
