Musical Instruments Played in the Revolutionary Period

Musical Instruments Played in the Revolutionary Period
This collection represents the key instruments that were crafted and performed in the early 19th century. Most of these instruments were either brought over to the States from slaves or from European voyagers. Music played a huge role for soldiers during wars because it can take the tension away for awhile to get the soldiers mind off the war. These instruments bring distinct sounds as to the materials that they used were not as durable as they are today. The music genre they created with these instruments varied from bluegrass, country, brass bands and many more genres of music.
Going through the collection you will notice a few various types of musical instruments. Wind and percussion instruments are the most used during this time period. Instruments like the clarinet, french horn and bassoon were used in may musicals in the 19th century. People who played instruments were considered talented during this time period. “Around mid 1800’s brass bands were created with woodwind instruments like.” Military soldiers also learned how to play an instrument and had many great uses during wars. In the later years of the 19th century, more orchestra’s and bands were being created to spread the great sounds of music.
