Fashion History: Contributed to Advancement of Black People in the US

#TUJBridgeFall2021Giarratani
This collection explores the history of fashion culture in the U.S. Fashion reflects the background of the times. Circumstances in the U.S. around 1920 were marked by many changes, including the end of World War I, women's suffrage, Prohibition, and the Great Depression. Inspired by these changes, the Harlem Renaissance developed and a unique fashion style was born. Through the Harlem Renaissance, the number of black celebrities increased and they had more opportunities to speak out. In the 1960s, prominent black fashion designers were born, and they became active in the fashion industry as well as in their status as black people. Trace the trajectory of their success in raising the pride, hope and status of black people through fashion under the era of discrimination. This collection is recommended for those who are interested in the fashion industry and black rights.
