The Count: A History

DRAFT - this unit introduces students to the history of numbers and counting systems, using SI objects, readings, and videos. We start with one of the first three objects (still need to decide on this) - a Kiowa calendar painted on a hide, a circular, metal calendar device, and a photograph of Papuan students working on an arithmetic lesson. Students use "I see, I think, I wonder" technique to engage with the material, then delve into the history of counting or number systems.
