AMST375 Final Project: Japanese American Artists affected by Executive Order 9066

During World War 2, there was a distrust of the Japanese after the bombing of Pearl Harbor (as well as inherent racism in the masses), therefore, the action was taken by passing Executive Order 9066. Following Executive Order 9066, Japanese and Japanese Americans along the West Coast and Hawaii were forced from their homes and into Internment camps.

Many were forced to give up homes and lands, never able to return. Some children spent a large part of their childhood in the camps, learning and living in this secluded environment.

This presentation shows Japanese American artists affected by Internment and the different paths they took. Each of them experienced discrimination both during and after Internment, and each of them addressed it differently.
