Alejandra Morales Picard, Exploring Developmental Effects of Environmental Change

All content for this collection was provided by Alejandra Morales Picard.

One of the most fundamental themes in Psychology is the exploration of how environmental factors affect and shape us. This theme is particularly pronounced in the "Human Growth and Development "course I teach, where students learn about environmental influences on physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development across the lifespan. One of my primary objectives in developing this class project was to help students gain a deeper understanding of the reciprocal relationship we have with the natural world. It was my hope that they would come to see (if they didn't already) that this relationship is central to who we are, whether at the species, societal, or individual level, and that it can be determinant of who we become.

This collection complements the Classroom Impact section of the EdX course, Teaching with the Smithsonian: Addressing 21st-Century Challenges in the College Classroom.
