God, Gods, & Goddesses: The Revelation of Religion in the Arts

In this collection, I'm creating a timeline through the ages of civilizations and different cultures as they create are relevant to their religions. There have been many gods, goddesses, kings, and queens throughout the ages with different works of art and media to emulate them. Art tells a story, whether it be individualistic or that of an entire civilization, it is peculiar and interesting to see the progression over the centuries.

Research suggests as one would expect, that art has "piggybacked" off each era beforehand in design and skill. What once started as a monolith block was chiseled into a marble masterpiece, so to speak. What once acted as a gateway to one God became a detailed temple wielding various statues dedicated to even more gods. Time has brought us the beauty of all kinds. From Khafre of Ancient Egypt to Phidias of Ancient Greece, all the way through 17th-18th century oil paintings in Italy, France, Spain, and so on, our world has been blessed to watch different media, shapes, and sizes tell the stories these people are no longer here to tell us.

Religion is different everywhere as well, and it is through this collection we'll be able to see just some of the many different kinds through different time periods and civilizations. Today, we respect more religions than we may even be aware of. Here, we'll expand on these gods and goddesses and the people's methods of worship even more.

The audience for this collection might simply be studio and creative arts students, or it could be history students curious for better visual learning. It could help younger learners see the amazing transformations of different types of worship, or merely be a collection of entertainment for the many of us that have studied ancient civilizations up to near-present-day visual arts and want to see more.
