This Learning Lab Collection shares artworks and learning materials from a hands-on, art preservation workshop. We encourage you to extend your learning and participate in activities in your free time. 

About this program: 

Explore the wear and tear of wearable art in the Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery and Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM) collections. From metals and jewels to nuts and plastics, see the possibilities of wearable art and how our art doctors care for them. Learn how to string your own untraditional creation from conservators.  

Designed for ages three to five and their caretakers, the workshop encourages families to experiment with artmaking and preservation techniques. This program is part of a yearlong series co-hosted by SAAM and the National Museum of Asian Art.
