SWBAT analyze the issues facing African Americans during the Jim Crow Era and the ways they organized to resist and build community in the midst of it.
Part 1 (Reconstruction): Examine how formerly enslaved African Americans were able to define themselves as individuals and citizens during the era of Reconstruction.
Part 2 (Jim Crow): Examine the various hardships that African Americans faced as a result of Jim Crow Era policies, beliefs, and practices.
Part 3 (Resistance & Community): Examine the ways that African Americans persisted and resisted the efforts of Jim Crow to subjugate them and suppress their freedom
