"Which Side Are You On?" | Kentucky Studies

When coal miners in Harlan County, Kentucky, got word of a 10 percent pay cut in February 1931, they decided to join the United Mine Workers Union and go on strike. A song by Florence Reese, "Which Side Are You On?" became an anthem for the coal miners' cause during the Harlan County coal wars.
