Examine the role Summit Stewards play in the recovery of alpine ecosystems at the summits of the High Peaks in the Adirondack Mountains of New York State. Students will follow the Summit Stewards who share their knowledge about Adirondack alpine ecosystems, the methods used to track the progress of environmental conservation over time, and how they are taking action to preserve this natural ecosystem. Students will learn what it takes to become a Summit Steward, and about the education and outreach they conduct to help the public love and appreciate these mountain peaks.
