Who Inspires You? | Craft in America: Inspiration
Students will investigate the work of Alison Saar and discuss possible meaning in some artworks by Alison Saar. They view the video segment in which Alison, her mother, Betye, and her daughter, Maddy Leeser, talk about how they were inspired by Simon Rodia and the Watts Towers, their heritage, and each other. Students will investigate materials, techniques, and processes for creating three-dimensional artworks using found objects and materials. Students will choose objects and materials to create an artwork that sends a message or conveys meaning.
