The Storyteller | be/longing: Asian Americans Now
Việt Thanh Nguyễn came to the United States as a Vietnamese refugee when he was 4 years old. Today Nguyễn is a college professor and author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Sympathizer. In this Exploring Hate episode, he discusses displacement, the resilience of the refugee, and why telling stories is not only a craft but a mission. In this educational resource, students research Vietnamese refugees and discuss the power of storytelling. This resource also includes an activity on collecting a family or community story.
