White Sturgeon and the Native Peoples | The Fish Between the Falls

While the sturgeon were a food source for the Native People of the Kootenai River flood plain, the respect they had for the fish went well beyond their diets. In fact, the sturgeon's status within the Nations was reflected in the unique design of native canoes.
