Evelyn's Portrait Photography | Evelyn Cameron

Because running a centralized studio did not make sense in a widespread ranching community, Evelyn Cameron was forced to mobilize her photography business by taking her camera with her on horseback. Carrying a bulky camera and delicate glass negatives across Montana's Badlands was an incredible task for anyone, yet Evelyn never gave up her dedication to finding and photographing individuals in the midst of their daily western lives. Now about 100 years later, her portrait photography tells us a lot about the settlers of the Eastern Montana prairie.
