Meet Maestro Thomas Wilkins, who is celebrating his 16^th and final year as music director of the Omaha Symphony Orchestra. Wilkins is in demand by orchestras across the country. But Omaha is special—he’s been at the center of cultural life here longer than any other music director. 2021 is also the 100^th birthday of the Omaha Symphony and rehearsals are underway for this double celebration at the downtown Holland Center. Thomas’ final performance will feature his friend, musician Branford Marsalis on saxophone, and a new composition commissioned by Thomas to celebrate a century of music.
