Brown Bears | Musical Menagerie
At the Minnesota Zoo, Sarah Hicks visits a trio of Alaskan brown bears and gets a sense of their unique personalities. She then returns to the Minnesota Orchestra for a performance of a movement from composer Maurice Ravel's "Le Tombeau de Couperin." Just as 3 bears can have 3 distinct personalities, composers can embue music with a variety of characters. Activity #5 in the Concert Guide explores the means by which Ravel captured the personalities of his friends in song.
