Butterfly Garden Party Lesson Plan | PINKALICIOUS & PETERRIFIC®

In this lesson, students learn about butterflies—the beautiful symmetrical patterns in their wings, how they search for food and eat, and the ways in which their wings help them to survive in the wild. After watching a video excerpt from the PBS KIDS series PINKALICIOUS & PETERRIFIC®, students learn that wings do more than enable butterflies to fly. Using a live-action video short for inspiration, children use everyday craft materials to create colorful paper butterflies to brighten up the classroom. Then they make seed balls and discuss places to toss them in order to create mini gardens that both butterflies and people can enjoy.
