Learn how the Roosevelt administration aids the Allies in World War II while keeping within the boundaries of America’s 1939 Neutrality Act in this video excerpt from Atlantic Crossing | MASTERPIECE. Crown Princess Märtha of Norway confronts President and First Lady Roosevelt in the Oval Office to request aid for Norway to fight the Nazis. President Roosevelt uses the Neutrality Act to reject the request and is surprised when the princess cites tactics that the United States has used to work around the Neutrality Act and suggests the same be applied to her country.
