Visit a Kentucky Vegetable Farm | Kentucky Farms Feed Me
Host Kylie visits Mary Courtney, owner of Courtney Farms in Bagdad, Ky. Mary talks about the importance of matching the types of produce they grow to their customer’s wants and needs. She also shows how they grow more than 100 different types of vegetables to sell to local customers, grocery stores, and restaurants. Viewers learn about the importance of meeting the plants’ needs so they will produce healthy veggies to eat and also learn about plant parts and nutrition.
In this video, students will explore the following:
- Kentucky farms produce nutritious foods that we should eat daily.
- Because of Kentucky’s climate, certain fruits and vegetables are produced and available at specific times of the year.
- Some fruits and vegetables cannot be produced in Kentucky.
