Buddhism, Bhutan and Me | FILMS BYKIDS

In this film, Buddhism, Bhutan and Me | FILMS BYKIDS, meet 18-year-old Buddhist monk Rinzin Jurmey. Rinzin grew up in a small rural village in Bhutan and at age 11, he decided to leave his family and move to a monastery to become a monk. He chronicles the religious and cultural traditions of this historically isolated country, while also highlighting the positive and negative aspects of living in an increasingly globalized, modern world. Utilizing discussion questions and teaching tips, students examine why Bhutan has been historically isolated and if this small country can keep its culture while embracing twenty-first century life.
