A "1" House Legislature | Civics 101

Senator George W. Norris wrote and promoted the Nebraska constitutional amendment that created the Unicameral Legislature in Nebraska. Nebraska has the only unicameral in our 50 states. Norris was interested in the Unicameral he saw in Australia in 1931. He promoted the adoption of a Unicameral system by visiting every section of Nebraska. The Unicameral was approved by voters in 1934 and started in 1937.
