What Is the Census? | Civics 101
Once every 10 years, the government sends workers all over the country to knock on our doors for the U.S. Census mandated by Article 1, Section 2 of the U.S. Consititution. The census provides critical data that lawmakers, business owners, teachers, and many others use to provide daily services, products, and support to local communities. Census data provides billions of dollars in federal funding that goes to hospitals, fire departments, schools, roads, and other essential services.
