Designing Early Childhood Classrooms for Social-Emotional Learning

Social-emotional learning and development is essential in early childhood education. Creating environments that nurture positive social-emotional learning will support young children's learning in all areas and minimize the common behavioral problems that occur in the early learning classroom. For early childhood educators, the foundation of their work in creating such supportive early learning environments includes helping children build positive relationships with peers and adults, and teaching with developmentally appropriate and culturally relevant instructional practices.
