K-2 Science Tips: Energy & Motion | PBS KIDS Self-Paced Learning

Sign-up for this free self-paced professional learning course! Once registered, you will have full access to tools from PBS KIDS to explore ways to integrate media-rich lesson plans in your classroom.

In this self-paced course you will be introduced to inquiry-based and connected learning approaches as a foundation and will learn to support young children’s understanding of Energy and Motion, an essential learning standard in the Next Generation Science Standard (NGSS) curriculum for children in early childhood and early elementary grades.

Step into Alicia’s first-grade classroom to see first hand what inquiry as an approach to learning about science and in connected learning techniques for teaching looks like. Then consider how you might implement Alicia’s techniques on your own. Throughout, you will be provided a list of related resources for teaching and learning including recommended children’s books and PBS KIDS digital resources.

PBS KIDS offers a FREE special collection of flexible self-paced learning to help inspire PreK-2 teachers and provide support for the classroom. Choose from a variety of learning topics designed to spark new ideas and expand your skill set for engaging children and families with educational media. You may also be able to earn between two to four credit hours.
