Welcome to Fossil Country | Prehistoric Road Trip
Pack up your rock jammer, jump in the car, and get ready to explore 2.5 billion years of Earth’s geological history on this immersive expedition. Emily Graslie hosts Prehistoric Road Trip in Custer State Park, part of the Blacks Hills of South Dakota. This is the first stop through five states. It’s a story told through the abundance of diverse fossils that can be found all over – if you know where to look.
Students will learn the basics about geology and paleontology. They will explore rock formations in the Black Hills that are more than 2.5 billion years old.
