3 Circle Barn | Keeping the Barn
Captain Joseph T. Brown finished a brief stint in the Confederate Army at the end of the Civil War. He moved and bought a place near his brother in southeastern Montana. Today, beneath the towering cottonwoods, sits the 3-Circle Ranch. The original buildings on the place, the bunkhouse and cook house, were built with sandstone. Later in 1916, Brown started hiring for the construction of what would be a local landmark, his main barn. To start the project they once again tapped the nearby quarry of sandstone.
