Naylor Big Barn, Merrill Family | Keeping the Barn
In Buffalo, MT, in 1926, Floyd Naylor and his wife hired a craftsman to build a state-of-the-art barn, primarily for their sheep. His barn was built during the winter so they couldn’t pour concrete. Ultimately, it was never added. The huge building stood on wooden pilings in the dirt. After 80-years, it was in dire shape, with the posts buckling and the roof in shambles. That’s when the Merrill family knew it was time to upgrade the building. It took a combination of hard work and grant funding to shore up the foundation and wooden posts.
