Bone Wars | Prehistoric Road Trip
In the mid-to-late 1800s, two paleontologists Edward Drinker Cope of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia, and Othniel Charles Marsh of Yale University waged a decade’s long competitive, embittered fossil-hunting battle against one another, each trying to out-compete and out-publish the other.
Students will explore fossils that preserve the Late Jurassic world from 157 to 148 million years ago, as well as learn about the Morrison Formation, which can be found in seven states. Some of the earliest dinosaur discoveries in North America happened in this formation. Visit Prehistoric Road Trip website to learn more!
