Vote Your Values | And She Could Be Next

Addressing a crowd, Oprah Winfrey speaks to voting for her values and for her relatives who were denied voting rights. When she goes to the polls, she quotes Maya Angelou: “I come as one, but I stand as 10,000.” Oprah interviews Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams who says that, on the campaign trail, people she’s known for years say they won’t support her. Abrams feels their reasons imply that race and gender are disqualifiers for her. Rather than convince them to vote for her, Abrams asks them to dig deep and question why they would deny her support. At the end, John Lewis in the audience encourages Abrams to “Bring it home.”
