New Americans | And She Could Be Next

Nse Ufot, Executive Director of the New Georgia Project, explains how candidates, campaigns, and grassroots organizers ignore newly-naturalized immigrants and question their ability to participate in electoral politics. In response, she participates in a roundtable with African immigrant women to learn about their priorities and the efforts they’d like to see from local elected officials. One woman says she’s worried for younger generations who are less invested in politics. Another wishes organizations and officials would approach her community to teach them ways they can mobilize.
