Youth Have a Voice | And She Could Be Next

We hear from a 15-year-old Muslim woman flyering for Rashida Tlaib’s campaign. She laments that youth don’t get a voice, and while she can’t vote, she’s pushing for others to do so. She has faith that Tlaib will fight for Detroit’s communities and families. Rachid Elabed, Tlaib’s brother, comments on how he became involved in organizing and youth mentorship. The campaigners go door-knocking, and we overhear one campaigner tell a resident that if Tlaib wins, she’ll be the first Muslim woman in Congress. At the end, another campaigner stresses that anyone has the opportunity to rise up and enact change.
