Beethoven and Night | Juliek's Violin: Part 3

Listen to a moving duet between Elie Wiesel’s words in his iconic book Night and the very music he described which is played in a live performance on a Violin of Hope.

Over the years, Amnon Weinstein and his son Avshalom (Avshi) have restored over 50 Violins of Hope. These instruments belonged to Jewish musicians during the Holocaust and had been silent and neglected for decades. Because of the Weinsteins’ restoration and vision, these instruments sing once more and bring with them many stories of Jewish musicians who perished and who survived the Holocaust.

The Weinsteins had the vision to send the instruments to communities all over the world, not just for exhibit, but also to be played and heard. In this way, they become “living artifacts.” Hearing music come from these instruments also reaches audiences on an emotional level.
