Compost Worms

Learn about composting in this video from WyomingPBS Compost Worms, and then set up composting bins and make observations.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Students will understand how decomposers are important in the movement of matter. 
  • Students will learn how decomposers (worms) recycle organic waste that was once energy from the sun back into the soil.
  • Students will set up a composting bin to watch organic waste be recycled by worms, creating worm castings that are high in nutrition to be used on gardens.
  • Students will make observations of the composting bin and document the findings.
