Wild Hogs and Horses | Georgia Outdoors
Wild hogs and horses roam freely on Cumberland Island, Georgia's largest barrier island. The hogs, however, wreak havoc on sea turtle nests and the natural habitats. Wild horses are another difficult issue because they are beloved by Cumberland's visitors. Biologists, though, view them as feral animals that damage marsh grasses and destroys nests. One of the most controversial issues may be how to manage the island's wild horses.
