Preserving the Pinelands: A Project-Based Conservation Lesson | New Jersey: Then and Now

The Pinelands National Reserve is the largest forested area on the Eastern Seaboard between Maine and the Florida Everglades. The Pinelands, an area in south Jersey, covers 1.1 million acres. This is truly a special place. Yet, this vital region has been threatened by encroaching development and pollutants. This lesson encourages students to learn about the Pinelands, and take action to help preserve natural resources in their local community.
