Women on the Job in World War II
Investigate how gender roles changed when women entered the workforce in unprecedented numbers during World War II. Working in jobs usually reserved for men offered new opportunities for many U.S. women. In Japan, civil defense jobs often put women in grave danger. Narrated by historian Brenna Wynn Greer, the video uses primary source footage to explore how women around the world confronted the new challenges brought on by “total war.”
